Soroptimist Art Award Linz_2023

The 3rd Soroptimist Artist:in Award has been opened for female visual artists. In addition to financial support in the form of prize money, young female artists and art students who were born in Upper Austria or have lived in Upper Austria for at least two years have the opportunity to participate in an exhibition of their work at the Salzamt Linz. Talented young artists are thus to receive a start-up grant, which is offered by the Atelierhaus Salzamt, a cultural institution of the City of Linz, among others. The Atelierhaus Salzamt also offers exhibition opportunities to young visual artists from inland and abroad on other occasions. A jury of experts will consider the submissions in June 2023.

Three prizes worth a total of 11,500 euros will be awarded in the form of a main prize (5,000 €) and two recognition prizes (3,000 € / 2,000 €) and in addition, for the first time, an audience prize (1,500 €) will be awarded.

Wels is a city in the foothills of the Alps in Upper Austria. With a population of 63,181, it is the second largest city in the province of Upper Austria. The STADT WELS Veranstaltungsservice und Volkshochschule has issued a call for a scholarship. Authors/ writers can apply for a scholarship as Welser Stadtschreiber. The aim of this call for applications is to promote men and women - without age restriction – in their development as authors. It is expected, among other things, that the applicants demonstrate artistic independence, are willing to enter into an exchange with the people of Wels, and refer to children and young people and their realities in their writing. They must be able to relate their writing to children and young people and the realities of their lives, and they must also want to convey to children and young people a love of language and a playful approach to it. The Welser Stadtschreiber should, for example, offer writing workshops for children between the ages of 8 and 14. Hence, some basic knowledge of the German language will be needed and at least one independent literary publication (not self-published) or five independent publications in journals or anthologies are expected as previous experience.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - a curriculum vitae, details of their literary career and 2 publication samples (max. 10 pages per text sample, in the case of foreign-language translation samples in the case of publications in foreign languages).

Scholarship: for the time from Friday, 1 September to Thursday, 30 November per month € 1,100.00 with, in addition, an accommodation in Wels as part of this scholarship.

Cooperation, creation and territories 2023 - Plastic and visual arts - Nouvelle-Aquitaine

The network of plastic and visual arts in New Aquitaine ASTRE, the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of New Aquitaine and the Regional Council of New Aquitaine have co-signed a contract for the plastic and visual arts sector. It aims to encourage the emergence of a dynamic sector and cooperation between the various actors in the field of plastic and visual arts in the region. 

Within the framework of this sector contract, the State and the Regional Council are jointly launching a call for projects in order to encourage the experimentation of cooperative actions to promote creation in the plastic and visual arts sector. This call, co-constructed with ASTRE, encourages cooperative actions between actors in the visual arts and beyond: artistic research, production, dissemination or mediation projects based on one or more territories and their resources.

The objective is to contribute to the financing of actions that :

  • consolidate the artist's career,
  • promote cooperation between the actors of the plastic and visual arts and the wider ecosystem in which they are embedded,
  • take into account the specificities of the territory and its resources.

Being young through different ages, in relation to our environment

This is a Residency Mission for 2 school years (2023-2024 and 2024-2025) whose theme is Being young through different ages, in relation to our environment. The artistic form will be street arts or circus arts with a plastic arts component.

This residency should be a vector of cultural development for our territory. First of all, through the mix of audiences and encounters. The long presence of the company on our territory will allow for the creation of a dynamic through the exchange between the artists and populations throughout the year, thus contributing to the attractiveness of the region. Beyond these two main disciplines, projects based on other artistic disciplines such as music artistic disciplines such as music, theater, dance or digital arts, allowing for the inclusion of a digital arts, allowing for a larger number of participants to be included in the projects, are welcome

The objectives are:

  • To carry out a collective artistic work with the inhabitants, without the challenge of personal production or commissioning works as in a creative residency. 
  • To allow a large number of inhabitants, young people, children and adults, to acquire an original and sensitive experience of the artistic practices of the artists in residence.
  • To give people the opportunity to see and understand their world, the artistic research that drives them and the creative processes that are implemented.

Atelier Capsule

Atelier Capsule

Arcad - Centre d'Artistes, based on the Basque Coast (Anglet), is developing a mission as a resource centre for artists (professional or in progress) and offers them information, training and meetings between peers or with actors from the New Aquitaine art world. Its coworking space is accessible to artists as well as a range of equipment (computers with creation software or with search engines for calls for projects, photo studio, exhibition kit, etc.).

The objective is to offer the opportunity to artists from New Aquitaine who have a contemporary creation project in the plastic and visual arts (in possible dialogue with the performing arts, sciences, crafts...), to be hosted at Arcad for several months and to benefit from a production space and specific professional support until the project blossoms.

The call for applications is limited to a single application from a professional artist-author or one who is in the process of becoming a professional, with no age limit, in any artistic discipline in the field of plastic and visual arts (painting, sculpture, plastic arts, photography, graphic arts, video art, installation etc.).
