The mission of the Fonds d'Encouragement aux Initiatives Artistiques et Culturelles des Amateurs (FEIACA), set up by the French Ministry of Culture, is to support the artistic and cultural initiatives of amateur groups.
Open to any independent group of at least four people practicing amateur (non-professional) art in the fields of live performance or the plastic and visual arts, the FEIACA offers a funding opportunity for the realization of artistic projects within this community.
This fund specifically targets amateurs who choose to come together to develop their practice independently, going beyond the framework of traditional courses, internships or workshops. These amateur artists embark on a collective adventure in which their artistic choices and approaches assert themselves and evolve through the exploration of new forms of expression, new disciplines and encounters with artists and cultural professionals.
The French Ministry of Culture supports these projects by granting subsidies to enable amateurs to be supervised by professional artists.
Each year, this scheme aims to identify, support and showcase a series of projects and initiatives reflecting the diversity of amateur artistic cultures and expressions. It also includes a youth component, enabling young people to form groups wishing to develop independent collective practice, refine their artistic choices and bring their projects to fruition.
The FEIACA has a number of objectives: to encourage artistic initiatives by amateur groups, to encourage transmission through meetings with professionals, and to promote the development and impact of artistic expression by amateur groups in local cultural life.
The fund provides financial support for collaboration between an amateur group and a professional artist and/or cultural professional from outside the group. This collaboration enables the group to explore new artistic dimensions and evolve its practice. Projects can extend over one or two seasons, with financial assistance ranging from €1,000 to €5,000, covering up to 50% of the total project budget. In exchange, a financial statement and a project report will be required at the end of the project.
